Our PierSo glad we decided to haul Akoni. The storm surge was predicted to be 9’ and it was very close to that. Here are some photos from earlier in the afternoon of our dock at low tide and the aftermath at nearby Solomon’s Island Friday morning. After high tide (~8PM) and the surge overnight, the water reached the bottom of the life ring visible in the center of photo 1, nearly covering the pilings. Photo 1: Our dock at low tide, waves lapping at the deck.
Photo 2: My slip at
low tide. Note, the lower submerged finger pier is normally
2 feet above the water at high tide.
Photo 3: One of the storefronts at Solomon’s Island
the morning after.
Photo 4: Handicap parking at
Solomon’s Island.
Photo 5: Solomon’s
Island Gazebo.
Photo 6: The ‘Hurricane
Deck Lounge’….actually this is a photo of the now
floating Solomon’s Pier Restaurant (and their missing
outdoor gazebo).
Photo 7: High Tech flotsam.
Photo 8: Our Famous Tiki
Bar.
Photo 10: No parking
