Email is erroneously marked as Spam

Spam

Email from free email accounts, such as hotmail and yahoo or mail server that doesn't conform to certain industry standards, may be marked as Spam.  This depends on what settings you've chosen for your Spam filters.  Messages from mailing lists may also be marked as Spam.

You can "whitelist" these email addresses.  Whitelisting means you always accept email from this address and allows it to bypass all filters on your account.  To add an email address to your whitelist, use web email (I-mail) on the home page and add the email to your address book.

How do I add email addresses to my I-mail Address Book?

  • To add an address, enter a new name and e-mail address and click the Add button.
  • To modify an address, select it from the list, correct the name and/or e-mail address, and then click the Modify button.
  • To delete an address, select it from the list, and click the Delete button.

Or you can read your email via I-mail and choose "Save Address" for those email addresses that need to be added to your address book.

Why do I need to add email addresses to my I-mail Address Book when I use Outlook Express (or other mail program)?

The address book for your mail program is located on your computer.  By the time messages get delivered to your computer, they have already gone through the Spam filters on the mail server.

In contrast, the I-mail address book is located directly on the mail server.  So any additions made or deleted from your address book in I-mail directly affect undelivered email on the mail server.
