Configuring Dial-Up Networking
These directions are for either configuring an existing dial-up
networking connection, or creating a new one for TQCI.
IE 3.02
1. Double click "My Computer."
2. Double click "Dial-Up Networking."
If your creating a new connection:
3. Double click "Make a new connection"
4. This window will prompt you for a name for the connection. I would
suggest "TQCI." Once you have entered this information, click
next.
5. This window will ask for phone number information. Since we are
required to dial 10 digits, we will enter "301" in the first box where it
requests the area code, then enter "3018661613" in the telephone number block.
We will disable dialing the area code first, and this will make it dial the full
10 digit number (including the area code) that we placed in the telephone number
field. Once this is complete, click next.
6. Click Finish.
Editing the connection for TQCI
7. Now that your in dial-up networking, find the connection you
just made, i.e. "TQCI" and click your RIGHT mouse button over top of it. Of
course, if you already have an existing connection and would just like to edit
it, choose whichever one is available. After clicking the RIGHT
mouse button on the icon, it will show you a menu next to it. Choose
"properties."
If right clicking on the icon does not work, click the icon once with
your left mouse button, then choose "File" (from the top of the window), then
choose "properties"
8. Now that your in properties, you will notice the phone number up top.
There are 2 separate fields - 1 for area code, and 1 for phone number. Please
make sure that the full 10 digit phone number (including the area code) is the
the "Telephone Number" block.
9. Directly underneath is a check box that will allow the computer to
dial the area code or not. Please make sure there is no checkmark in this box.
If there is a checkmark, you can remove it by clicking on it.

23. Click OK all the way back out to the "Dial-Up Networking" window, and
close out dial-up networking, and "My computer"
If you have made a new dial-up networking connection -
24. You need to make sure your Internet explorer and Internet mail
programs know that this new connection is what you will be using to connect to
the Internet. If you have edited an existing connection, there is nothing else
to be changed.
25. On your main desktop, you will see your Internet Explorer icon (globe
with magnifying glass on it.) Please RIGHT click on this icon, and choose
properties from the menu. If right clicking does not work, you will need to go
to My Computer, Control Panel, and double-click on Internet. Either of these
will take you to the same place.
26. Once in the Internet Explorer properties, please click on the top tab
that reads "Connection."
27. Make sure the check-box is checked up top for "I connect to the
Internet as needed using the following Dial-Up Networking Connection."
28. Make sure the connection listed below reads as the same as you just
made i.e. "TQCI", or whatever other name was used.
