Windows ME Millennium Edition Windows ME Millennium Edition was released on September 14, 2000. It has a special restore function that is great for repairing damage caused by defective software installations. It also has some self-diagnostic capabilities that are really useful. This tutorial is split into two separate pages. The first page shows you how to use the special restoration and diagnostic functions of Windows ME. The second page shows you how to setup an internet connection and configure a modem. Windows ME is loaded with Internet Explorer 5.5 and Outlook Express 5. It also works with Netscape, Outlook and just about any other program that worked with Windows 95 & 98. The setup of those programs is exactly the same as other versions of Windows so you don't need to worry about that. Pick A Topic: System Restoration & Diagnostics Setting Up An Internet Connection Special Notes: Windows ME has "adaptive menus" which show you the things that you use the most while often hiding things that you've never used before. If you click a drop-down menu and don't see what you are looking for then look for a pair of arrows at the bottom. Just click those arrows and you will see all of your options. There is another change that might catch some people "off guard" if they are used to Windows 95/98. You can't manually install a dial-up adapter in the network section of control panel. That's not a problem. Just do a system restore if your dial-up adapter gets deleted or damaged. You can also reinstall dial-up networking in the add/remove programs section (windows setup tab -> communications section) of the control panel.
